As an aside, I heard rumors that the Hummer will no longer be produced. Though I don't know who makes those. But I'd certainly hate to have their karma!
Did I ever tell anyone the story about the Navajo guy that B and I met when we went to Santa Fe? We were driving around the country-side on our way to Taos, a city north of Santa Fe, stopping at little touristy places with clothe and other handmade goods. Well, here I was, feeling so proud of myself for supporting these local businesses, blah, blah, blah, when this guy who's keeping shop for his mom tells us that we should visit his own shop on our way back down to Santa Fe. So we ask for directions and he gives them...ending with a mention of how he has a hummer and that we'll know his shop because it will be the one with the hummer out front. Ugh! I don't know who I was more irritated with, myself for thinking of him in stereotypes, or him for being so proud of owning one of those horrible, horrible machines.
Now, what we really need is to start a scooter revolution!

I don't feel too sorry for Ford. They've been lagging behind in their engineering/innovation for years. And the whole SUV/truck thing...they really should have tried to move away from that years ago. It's not as if it hasn't been obvious for a while that they weren't sustainable.
GM makes Hummer. I don't think they're going to stop being made--GM will sell them to another company. Boo!
